In the early years of Christianity, hundreds of people went to the desert and encouraged others to follow them. Their call was simple: “Go to the desert, and it will teach you everything you need to know.” It is in the desert that we find God, and in finding God we find ourselves. Or maybe we find ourselves and then find that we cannot live meaningfully without God.
